How do I register to receive newsletters?
To register simply provide your email address in the Newsletter feature on right hide side menu of our website. You will then receive a newsletter request email that you must click to confirm and be added to our newsletter. We will always announce the opening of the CARTEN100 Booking Form via our newsletters some 24 hours before launching on our website and via social media.
What do I need to know before attempting the CARTEN100 cycle?
Riders are usually of mixed ability and often new to this type of distance, so we encourage everyone to do some training for a few weeks prior to the ride to prepare the legs and backside! Preparation of your bike is also essential as punctures and mechanical failures tend to happen to the bikes which have not been in use for a while. If you do come across any problem stopping you completing the ride, the support vehicles will do whatever they can to help you to finish.
Why the name - CARTEN100?
diff to TEN
by is 100
miles so CARTEN100.

Where does the ride start?
We have arranged to start the event at one of the most iconic locations in Cardiff – CARTEN100 has certainly come of age with a new start at the City Hall in Cardiff! Riders will be started in blocks of about 50 from 7.30am, which will take about an hour to complete, so no hurry.
Where does the ride finish?
This year, the CARTEN100 will finish in Tenby’s Tudor Square in the heart of the town. The square will be closed to traffic and your friends and families will be able to cheer you in safely, before you all head down to the harbor to collect your finishers T-shirt and complimentary pasta meal. Tenby Lions will be your hosts in the CARTEN100 marquee on the harbor car park, with a full bar and BBQ available right next to the harbor beach. There will be bike racking available, so bring your bike lock and enjoy the rest!
What if I finish Earlier?
The finish will be open from 1.00pm, so if you arrive before then, well done, but the CARTEN100 is not a race and we don’t time riders, so enjoy your day and help support the riders coming in after you.
What happens later on?
Traditionally, riders disperse to their hotels, tents, caravans etc to shower and change then the town fills up with tired, contented, t-shirt wearing participants celebrating their achievements.

What is essential to take on the ride?
Spare inner-tubes, a pump, suitable clothing for the conditions, high energy drinks and food. See Dr. Jon’s Essential Spares
Who is the suitable ride for?
Everyone! We have had riders who haven’t seen their bike in years to seasoned club riders. The secret of success is always to do some training for a few weeks before the ride and essentially make sure your bike is fit too as equipment failure can be a cruel way to have to quit. Age and sex are not important, being use to your saddle is however!
Where does the money raised go?
All sponsorship raised by riders and from the shirt sponsorship goes direct to the nominated CARTEN100. Please see our charity
page for more details.
How much is the entry fee?
Entry for the 2019 CARTEN100 is from £85. This includes the Entry Fee, a 2019 Cycle shirt, a finishers T-Shirt, feed stations along the route and a meal at the Size of Wales Pavilion in Tenby Harbour at the finish.
What happens on the day?
All riders will have already signed up to our Terms & Conditions via the online registration form and so no need to queue this year! There will be a free Cardiff to Tenby luggage service at the start – be sure to use your bike number tags provided in your CARTEN100 Riders Pack (this is posted to you ahead of the ride). There will be a number of drinks stops along the way with free energy food, water and energy drinks. This year we have swapped the CARTEN breakfast for a free pasta or burger meal at the finish in Tenby. The Riders Briefing sheet will provide full details of the drinks stops and suggested places to eat during the day.
What about insurance?
To ensure all riders and organisers are protected, we have registered with British Cycling. This gives access to Event Insurance protecting riders, stewards and organisers against any unforeseen circumstances. This cover is only 3rd Party, so please make sure you have sufficient cover of your own if you need it.
What shirt size do I need?
Our CARTEN100 cycling jerseys are made from a technically advanced lightweight, soft and breathable fabric. The cycle jerseys have many features including elastic cuffs, silicone gripper hem and 3 rear pockets of which one is zipped as well as a full length front zipper. These shirts are normal fit, not
race fit, so choose your normal shirt chest size. Please see the Size Chart.
Where can I get a sponsor form from and where do I send the money?
You can manage your donations online or you may post donations directly to our chosen charity using our Cheque Return Form and official Sponsorship Form. Please visit our charity page for more details. Please remember to click on the Gift Aid if appropriate as the fee to JustGiving is then taken from this contribution.
I want to stay in Tenby overnight, can I have some help with my luggage?
Your luggage can be transported to Tenby in the SOFA SOFA truck and collected at the finish, just ensure you attach the completed luggage label supplied in your entry pack with your name, ride number and mobile number. ALL LUGGAGE IS CARRIED AT YOUR RISK.
What happens if I need to withdraw/cancel?
If you wish to withdraw from the CARTEN100 2019 after the end of February 2019 a 30% administration fee will be deducted from your Entry Fee. All funds will be returned to the account used to pay the entry. No cancellations will be accepted after the 7th April as Riders Packs will be posted out.
